EXPERIENCE THE FOREST ... AS MORE THAN JUST TREES |
|
Angels Crossing was founded in 1999 as a herb sanctuary, meeting venue, and educational facility located near Burr Oak State Park in southeastern Ohio. The 22-acre sanctuary and working farm is home to over 100 medicinal plants such as false unicorn, blue cohosh, bloodroot, goldenseal, black cohosh, Virginia snakeroot, adder-toothed fern, stoneroot, mayapple, wild yam, and many, many others. Dozens of tree species are home to a multitude of mushrooms, as well as songbirds, woodpeckers, owls, raptors. A half-acre pond provides a haven for regional waterfowl, as well as the occasional migrating kingfisher and osprey. |

Plant Rescue
Beneath the forest canopy are small green medicinal treasures. Southeastern Ohio, in particular, is well known for its bounty of medicinal herbal plants. Most of these woodland plants grow on the forests edge or in the dark shadows of the trees. Because many of us live in harmony with these native medicinal herbs we take fore granted their livelihood and thus think little of what we tramp underfoot. There are independent organizations doing intense studies of our forest flora, and to their dismay are finding an increasing demise of some very traditional Appalachian herbs. To this end, Angels Crossing began its Plant Rescue Program. Just as the world seeks to save the rain forest, we at Angels Crossing seek to save the Appalachian Forest .
We ask our concerned friends, neighbors and associates to alert us to proposed building sites so we may contact the owners, obtain digging permission, and remove the threatened and endangered plants to Angels Crossing Medicinal Herb Sanctuary where they have a continued chance at life. If you would like to be involved with Plant Rescue Programs, or know of an area about to undergo earth moving construction, please contact us at: 740-767-4950.
Or email us at: info@experience-the-forest.net. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
Together we can save our Appalachian Forests --- one plant at a time.
